HUD Leadership Updates

Andrew D. Hughes, HUD Deputy Secretary nominee.

On March 10, HUD Secretary Scott Turner announced that Andrew D. Hughes has been nominated to serve as HUD Deputy Secretary. Hughes currently serves as the Department’s Chief of Staff. “I am very excited about the nomination of Andrew Hughes to serve as Deputy Secretary for HUD.” Senate Banking Committee Chairman Tim Scott, also released a statement supporting Hughes. “As Deputy Secretary of HUD, I’m confident Andrew will continue his efforts to reform failed federal housing policies, increase accountability, and make housing more affordable for all Americans.”


Heidi J. Frechette, HUD-PIH General Deputy Assistant Secretary.

On March 12, HUD-PIH has announced that Heidi J. Frechette will become PIH’s General Deputy Assistant Secretary, effective March 17. Frechette has 30 years of experience in policy, grant programs, and legislative affairs, and has led PIH’s Office of Native American Programs (ONAP) since 2012, when she first served as Director of Performance and Planning. She was also Director of the Office of the Chief Financial Officer's Appropriations Liaison Division before being named Deputy Assistant Secretary for ONAP in 2016.
